To increase security at its airports, the Port Authority of NY and NJ created a project to install protective bollards in front of tenant airline terminals at John F. Kennedy International, Newark Liberty International and LaGuardia airports.
The bollards create hardened barriers to prevent vehicles from crashing into passenger terminals. They are designed to meet requirements derived from security assessments and specifications provided by the federal government.
Eduardo Castro as project manager devised a system that accomplished the required performance without the need to open the structural slabs under the sidewalks and over occupied spaces in the terminals significantly reducing cost and time of construction.
