Eduardo Castro was project manager for the structural and blast engineering design of this three-wing complex housing 1,100 employees with an atrium, multi-tiered curtain wall, pedestrian bridges and 200 parking spaces.
The building foundation consisted of slurry walls and a five-foot thick pressure mat foundation. The superstructure includes reinforced concrete floors and columns.
One of the first GSA design excellence projects, this building creates a collaborative environment for the organization by inserting a nine-story curved atrium which brings daylight and a sense of community to the project.
